Donors needed to replenish community blood inventory
MIAMI TOWNSHIP, OHIO - Hoxworth Blood Center is asking for all eligible donors to make an appointment to donate blood at their earliest convenience. “During the past 48 hours, Cincinnati has been hit with a significant winter storm which has canceled blood drives and deterred individuals from visiting neighborhood donor centers. These cancellations have led to a collection deficit of more than one and a half days of anticipated donations, roughly 500 units. These donors were desperately needed to maintain minimum inventory levels to meet the needs of patients in our 31 hospitals”, said Dr. Ronald Sacher, director Hoxworth Blood Center.
To remedy this shortage, Hoxworth Blood Center urges donors of all blood types to give at a blood drive or donor center this week to help replenish the community blood supply.
Kim Croese, who is organizing Thursday's blood drive at the Epiphany United Methodist Church in Miami Township said, “As you can imagine... Hoxworth is really hurting... so many scheduled drives have been canceled and the need for blood is soooo great.”
Croese said doners can come between 2-5 PM and 6-8 PM.
EPIPHANY UMC is at 6635 Loveland Miamiville Road next to the Oasis. Call with questions at 513-677-9866.
