CLERMONT COUNTY, OHIO - Customers of the Clermont County Water and Sewer Department will notice slight adjustments to their 2009 water and sewer bills. As part of a funding plan approved by the Board of Clermont County Commissioners in 2007, water rates will rise 4 percent and sewer rates will increase 5 percent this year. The additional funds will pay for increased costs related to utilities, chemicals, and services necessary to operate the systems, along with planned infrastructure replacements. An average residential user of 12,500 gallons of water and sewer services will see their bi-monthly bill go from $87.43 for water and sewer to $91.45, a 4.6 percent increase for the two month period. A residential user of 5,000 gallons or less will only see a bi-monthly increase of $.65 in their water and $1.05 in their sewer bills.
The water and sewer rate increases approved by the BCC in 2007 were the first increases for the services in 13 years. This rate change impacts only those in the county served by the Clermont County Water and Sewer District.
If you’re looking for ways to conserve water, consider that hand washing dishes can use up to 20 gallons of water, compared to only 10 gallons for a full dishwasher load.
