LOVELAND, OHIO - Make a new connection at your local Library in 2009. Bring your wireless enabled device to the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County and start surfing. The Library knows WiFi is hot, but free WiFi is even hotter.
Free WiFi service was first offered at the Main Library in October, but it has now been rolled out to all 40 branch locations throughout Hamilton County making it convenient to find access.
This free WiFi service replaced the fee-based service that’s been available for Library customers since 2005. “We learned from our customers that there was a real need for free wireless Internet access in the community,” said Library Executive Director Kim Fender. “We listened, and, with gift funds, we were able to subsidize the cost to our customers.”
In September 2008, the Library Board of Trustees authorized the use of gift funds to install and connect wireless access points to the existing Internet connections at all 41 Library locations, enabling the Library to provide free WiFi to customers without incurring any additional access costs.
