MORROW, OHIO - On Sunday, May 31 at 7:00 AM, a new cycling classic comes to Greater Cincinnati. Offering a variety of distance events, the Forget-Me-Not Classic will start and finish in the Cincinnati suburb of Morrow, Ohio, the heart of the Ohio River Valley. With covered bridges, scenic river views, spring wildflowers and low-traffic roads included in the ride route.
“Our website is live, and cyclists may now register and start working on their pledge pages,” said founders Ashley Todd and Mary Ann Montgomery. “We are both active cyclists, caring for family members with Alzheimer’s. We want to spread the message that as our population ages, nearly one in eight families will be affected by Alzheimer’s disease in the next 20 years. We want to help lessen this impact in a small way by putting on this event, and hope to raise $50,000 for the cause.”
The event will be staged through low-traffic, scenic rolling hills of the Little Miami River Valley, and road/trail courses in Warren and Hamilton Counties. Participants may choose from routes of varying length, including 100, 60, 40, and a family fun 10 mile ride.
Entry fee is $45, and riders are encouraged to raise an additional $150 in pledges to help the Alzheimer’s cause. Supporters that raise $1,000 or more by May 1, become “Memory Makers,” and receive prizes and special recognition during the event.
All net proceeds from the event will go to support the local programs and services provided by the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Cincinnati as well as national Alzheimer research efforts. The Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Cincinnati serves 27 counties in southern Ohio, Northern Kentucky and southeastern Indiana where approximately 44,000 individuals are affected by Alzheimer’s disease.
A gala finish line celebration, with music, food and activities awaits all participants of the Forget-Me-Not Classic at Little Miami High School.
The Forget-Me-Not Classic is limited to just 500 entries in its first year. Registration is open now, and is available at www.forgetmenotride.org .
