$2000 will be used at Barnhill Championship Baseball Field
MAINVILLE, OHIO - Becky Ehling, President of the Hamilton Township Trustees announced today the award of a $2000 grant from Duke Energy in recognition of Earth Day 2009. The Township will appropriate the funds to provide additional beautification and landscaping for Testerman Park and the new Kevin C. Barnhill Championship Baseball Field and adjoining Memorial Plaza to be dedicated on May 2, 2009.
Bill Barnhill, Trustee and Chairman of the Kevin C. Barnhill Memorial Fund said, “My wife Barbara and I are extremely proud and humbled that Duke Energy and the Hamilton Township Park Board have agreed to collaborate through the Earth Day community program to augment the natural beauty of the Kevin C. Barnhill Championship Field complex. As our youth will develop and mature into ballplayers on a champion baseball field, so will the arbors mature into dominant landscape fixtures of which the community can be proud.”
Tim Abbott, Regional Manager for Duke Energy said, “We appreciate the opportunity to partner with Hamilton Township and provide a great venue for their residents.”
The Kevin C. Barnhill Memorial Scholarship and Community Outreach Fund was established by the family and close friends of Kevin C. Barnhill, a 1997 graduate of Little Miami High School, Maineville resident, and Cincinnati Reds front-office employee, who was the victim of a homicide in Mason, Ohio on August 26, 2006. The Memorial Fund, which is administered by the Warren County Foundation.
