HAMILTON COUNTY, OHIO - Residents struggling in today’s tough economy can learn about employment services and workforce development in a April 15 online chat with Hamilton County’s Department of Job and Family Services.
The chat is an opportunity for job seekers to learn about local opportunities, workers to learn about assistance that will help them move up the career ladder and employers to learn about what the county’s Super Jobs program can offer them in terms of filling open positions. Kevin Holt, a manager in the county’s Workforce Development section, and Sheila Veits Roth, public relations professional with Super Jobs, will be online from 10 AM to 11 AM on April 15.
To participate, visit www.hcjfs.org and click on the link posted under Today at HCJFS. Also, an e-mail will be sent to subscribers to the HCJFS Update newsletter and to followers of the agency on Facebook and Twitter (hamiltoncojfs). To sign up for the newsletter, visit www.hcjfs.org.
“Many people are out of work right now or are working but feel as if they want more,” said Moira Weir, director of the department. “Likewise, employers need people with specific skills for some tough-to-fill positions. We can help in all these areas and this is a good opportunity to learn what we have to offer.”
The chat is among ongoing efforts by the Department of Job and Family Services, which handles child support collection, child welfare and public assistance programs, to be more accessible and open to its consumers and the public at large. It follows recent moves such as stationing employees in neighborhood non-profits for easier access to services and establishing a Speaker’s Bureau to help educate the public on how the agency does business.
