Junior High School
The new district-wide Junior High School - which is located on the Little Miami High School campus - was built for 800 students, but the design accommodates a future addition to increase capacity up to 1,500 students. The concept of the design is to maintain a team-teaching approach in an efficient, compact, two-story structure, according to the school district. The exterior of the approximately 109,000 square-foot facility compliments the High School's design.
Highlights of the New Junior High School project include:- 32 new classrooms
- New cafeteria for student dining
- New regulation-sized gymnasium
- State-of-the-art media center
- Fine arts rooms: instrumental, vocal and visual
- Special Education rooms
- Modern teaching technology
Intermediate School
The new district-wide Intermediate School located on Zoar and Stephens roads is approximately 109,000 square feet for the first phase of construction. The design concept of the 800 student school - which can be expanded to 1,600 students in Phase 2 - is to create a "school-within-a-school" environment. Students will be divided into a smaller, “more child friendly setting” of two 800-student, schools with shared core facilities, such as the gym, dining room, office wing, and media center. The second school will be built in a later phase. Many areas of the building are multi-functional to maximize space.
Highlights of the Intermediate School project include:- 32 classrooms with extended learning areas
- Classrooms divided into smaller groups of four to accommodate team teaching
- Student dining area with attached stage
- New regulation-sized gymnasium
- New music/vocal rooms
- State-of-the-art media center
- Special Education rooms
- Modern teaching technology
