Marine Capt. David S. Mitchell was President of Class of 1997
LOVELAND, OHIO - Loveland High School lost its first graduate in the Middle East wars. David Seth Mitchell, Loveland High School Class of 1997, was killed in Helmand Province, Afghanistan on Monday, October 26. Mitchell was President of his Senior Class at Loveland High School and played football and ran track.
Veteran of the Afghanistan war, and Loveland High School government teacher Lt. Col. David Volkman, said, “Seth was a young man who embodied honor, integrity and courage.”
Mitchell was a graduate of Virginia Tech and a Captain in the United States Marine Corps.
Mitchell, 30, died Monday while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 367, Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, I Marine Expeditionary Force, based out of Camp Pendleton, Calif
The 14 deaths on Monday was the deadliest single day for U.S. men and women in Afghanistan since 2005.
