I went through some trying times in the years prior to developing Granny's Garden School. It was those hard times that set the stage for me to be the granny nanny to my grandchildren. It was watching my grandchildren grow up in my gardens that was the foundation for the garden program.
I didn't just get through the hard times, I grew through them. I learned how to use coupons to stretch my grocery dollars. I became so good at it that it became a hobby.
Going to the grocery store can be a real downer when money is tight but by facing the problem head on and searching out and making the best use of the resources at hand, going to the grocery became a treasure hunt.
It was during this time that I learned to grow annual and perennial flowers from seed because I could not afford to buy plants.
One day when my daughter dropped off my grandchildren, I was sitting in my chair with a tray full of coins I was rolling. I was hoping I would have enough to take advantage of the bargains in that weeks grocery sale flier. My granddaughter who was about four at the time, said, "Grandma! You are rich!"
It was during these hard times I learned that living a rich life has nothing to do with how much money you have. Resources For Everyday Living will be about sharing resources readers can use in their everyday lives. I hope it will be a two way street and that readers will also share their resources
