HAMILTON COUNTY, OHIO – Hamilton County Public Health is coordinating appointment-only H1N1 vaccination clinics for residents at highest risk for serious complications from flu. Individuals should pre-register to receive the vaccine by visiting the following Web site https://h1n1vaccine.odh.ohio.gov.
According to Megan Hummel with the Hamilton County Public Health Service, the vaccine is arriving in limited quantities and they are targeting this early vaccine to high-risk individuals as identified by the Center for Disease Control. Appointment-only vaccination clinics will be conducted in an effort to reach additional populations that are not already being served by school-based vaccination clinics. "Thus far we have vaccinated over 14,000 school children and eligible staff, over 100 pregnant women and assured vaccine for 1,600 EMS workers."
“We are working our way across the county as fast as possible,” Tim Ingram, Health Commissioner said. “The speed in which we move is largely based on the quantities of vaccine we receive.”Appointment-only clinics will serve those most at risk for hospitalization from flu:
- Pregnant women
- People who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age
- Children 6 months through 4 years of age
- Children 5 through 18 years of age who have a chronic medical condition
The pre-registration process enables Hamilton County Public Health to coordinate vaccine supply with the number of individuals registered," said Hummel. "This will prevent long wait lines and assure an adequate supply for those attending the clinic."
Individuals must be pre-registered and scheduled to attend. Pre-registered individuals will be notified of the upcoming clinic. Documentation that individuals are in the priority group must be provided:
This may include: prescription, medicine bottle, appointment card, birth certificate, hospital discharge summary or another form of proof.
The following clinics will be held next week. Individuals must be pre-registered and have an appointment to attend.Tuesday, November 10:

Wednesday, November 11:

“We cannot predict when we will hold upcoming clinics since vaccine shipments and the quantity of vaccine in those shipments are uncertain,” Ingram said. “Due to limited supply vaccine available at this time, this is the best process for us to distribute vaccine to residents that are most vulnerable.”

Currently, FluMist vaccine is more readily available locally and those that are eligible to receive it are encouraged to choose this version. Hummel said, "There is a misconception that FluMist can spread flu, which is false, and it is concerning that people will be unprotected because of incorrect information. Both types of vaccine are used yearly to prevent seasonal flu and are very safe."
