MILFORD, OHIO - The American flag was lowered to half staff before the start of the Milford vs. Loveland football game last Friday to honor Marine Capt. David Seth Mitchell. There was also a moment of silence and Mitchell's image was shown on the video scoreboard.
Mitchell was a former football player at Loveland High School and the Class Prisident when he graduated in 1997. He was the first LHS graduate to die while fighting in the Middle East wars when he was killed in action in Helmand Province, Afghanistan on Monday, October 26.
Milford also had many large yellow ribbons throughout the stadium.
The Battle of Miami Township Victory Bell travels between Loveland and Milford High Schools. During the game, it became another triubute to Mitchell when a #30 jersey was draped on the bell to honor the football number Mitchell wore while a Loveland Tiger.
Miami Township Trustee Mary Makley Wolf shared her thoughts about the death of Mitchell with Loveland Magazine before the game.
