Scott
Michael Roberson, born July 3, 1970, died under hostile fire on
December 30, 2009 while serving his country as a CIA Security Officer
in Khost, Afghanistan.
He is survived by his wife, Molly (née
Kaiser) of Knoxville, Tenn. and their soon-to-arrive daughter, Piper;
parents, Harry and Sally Roberson of Stow, Ohio; parents-in-law,
Anthony and Nannette Kaiser of Knoxville, Tenn.; sister, Amy (Jeff)
Messner of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; brothers-in-law, Anthony (Jenna)
Kaiser of Cincinnati, Ohio and Will (Cathy) Kaiser of Breckenridge,
Colo.; sister-in-law, Ashleigh Kaiser of Breckenridge, Colo.; uncles,
Michael (Carole) Kovach of Stow, Ohio, Jim (Zelda) Kovach of Canton,
Ohio, Tom (Sue) Roberson of Clinton, Ohio, Rod (Brenda) Roberson of
Clinton, Ohio, and aunt Valerie (Ronnie) Thomas of Akron, Ohio; special
cousins, Karen Young, Keith Kovach and Adam Kovach; and hundreds of
family and friends who are so proud to have known him.
He will
be escorted by dear friend, Kelley Castell, CDR USN, and welcomed home
by loved ones including lifelong friends, David Bachiochi of Tolland,
Conn., Greg Johnson of Tolland, Conn., and Scott Castell of Houston,
Texas.
Born in Manchester, Ohio and raised in Tolland, Conn.,
Scott returned to Ohio to complete high school at Sycamore in
Cincinnati, starting a trend of globetrotting that would continue
throughout his life and result in friendships that spanned the world.
Though distance often separated him from loved ones, he was the glue
that held lifetime friendships together.
Scott's dedication to
his country and his fellow man were unparalleled. After graduating from
Florida State University with a degree in Criminology, he began his
career as an officer with the Atlanta Police Department and rose to the
rank of detective while working undercover in the Narcotics division.
His international service started with U.N. security forces in Kosovo
and continued with several tours of duty in Iraq, where his duties
included providing protection to high-risk officials. His most recent
assignments were in support of U.S. efforts in Afghanistan.
He
was a patriot and a hero but more importantly, he was a friend to all
who knew him. With his sly sense of humor, quick grin, and extensive
knowledge of B-movie quotes and Benny Hill episodes, he charmed
everyone he met. He was proud of being a cofounder of the Metro Atlanta
Police Emerald Society and loved riding motorcycles with the Iron Pigs.
His greatest joy in life was his wife, Molly and he looked forward with
so much happiness to the birth of their first child in February. He was
proud to serve his country and faced the risks head-on, often reminding
us that he had "no regrets" about a life lived to the fullest.
A
memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2010 in Akron,
Ohio with details to follow. All who wish to honor his memory are
invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be
made in Scott's honor to the Metropolitan Atlanta Police Emerald
Society (MAPES), P.O. Box 79053, Atlanta, GA 30357, Attn: Scott
Roberson Scholarship Fund. Please visit his memorial website at

We
loved him with all of our hearts and his passing is a tremendous loss
for the world he tried so hard to make better. We take comfort in
knowing he's in the hands of a loving God and look forward to the day
when we see him again.
