Mr. Carroll should be fired. If anything the Amazing Race brings tons of monies from outside sources to the area businesses and does nothing but benefit the city! In fact, if it weren't for the Amazing Race, I believe that Loveland would be long forgotten and businesses would be forced to move out, only to be replaced by low income residents that bring an even bigger burden to the infrastructure! If Loveland is short on money, there needs to be a better way of coming up with money rather than these underhanded techniques! For certain, now we all know that if this is happening to a dear public event like the Amazing Race, it must be happening much more in anything else Mr. Carroll is involved in. Good luck finding work somewhere else now, Carroll, because the references from your Loveland position are certainly waning! Shady dealings like this have no place where the wage earners of the area are much easier hit than in Montgomery and nearby. It's obvious that new young blood needs to be sought out to employ in the town positions, when something this embarrassing happens in a small town that is struggling to begin with. Take this from a resident of Carrington Crossings Condos - we are located up by JC Penny and yet have to pay Loveland tax, don't get recycle bins here, don't get city sidewalks here, don't get our kids in Loveland schools, yet a spaghetti-like 'city-limit' line includes the properties here and we get milked! These were built in 1994, and even back then, they were trying this stuff to attain money which shouldn't be theirs. Time for an overhaul in Loveland City Management!

The first time I was in downtown Loveland was because of the Amazing Race. Due to our particapation in the Amazing Race we spent more than $400.00 (shopping at the running spot, dining at paxton grill, and rentals from Montgomery Cyclery) money we would NOT have spent in Loveland if not for the Amazing Race! I enjoyed hanging out in Loveland and had planned on returning until I read what City Manager Tom Carroll did and how the Mayor Weisgerber is backing him up. It is hard for me to believe with more than 1,000 people who come to this race that the City of Loveland sales did not increase soley because of the race compared to other saturday mornings! While completing the biking portion of the race I discussed how nice some of the neighborhoods were that we passed through stating Loveland would be a nice place to move (we live in Mason currently) but after reading all the emails/letters I no longer would be interested in living in Loveland as long as the Mayor is Rob Weisgerber and the Manager is Tom Carroll. If I was resident I would be appointing a new Mayor when his terms ends 12/02/2013 and [putting pressure on City Council to apoint a new City Manager.
Outrageous yet you want us to pass income tax increase in November, I have not had a increase in to many years and I work harder than you in no comparsion nor do I make the kind of money you already made prior to this increase, then to take it back to January, come on now come pay my bills then since it is obvious you do not know how to budget and the last persons who should get increase in their pay is the ones spending our money we work hard for, since it is obvious you spend our money on majority of overpriced or not at all necessary expenses, should be laying off officials from City of Loveland since majority of us as we who live here talks amoungst ourselves state you have way to many over paid officials and to many unnecessary officials who does not do their jobs an gets overpaid and then they expect these type of increases. Get rid of lots of officials lower our tax base with PVA as well as local since the economy is in the poor state that is in, the last things should occur is giving nice pay increases to ones overspending our money and spending it inproperly.
A very concerned racer has left you a comment:
The city manager and mayor are clearly and publicly doing business in a completely unethical manner. If they will stoop to this level on something this trivial, imagine what is going on that we have no idea about. What kind of character do these "leaders" have?? Leaders should be men of integrity and vision - men not afraid to do the right thing, men that will not let menial issues change their overall course or actions. They have ruined the name of Loveland in our eyes. We were introduced to Loveland because of the Amazing Race and have spent much time and money there since. This leaves such a bad taste we have no desire whatsoever to spend another moment or another dollar there. There are many of us strongly supporting a complete change of venue. Take the race to one of the many cities in the area that would welcome it and has the vision to see the Amazing Race for the Amazing revenue that it brings in, not just during race week, but throughout the entire year. Move the race, leave Loveland, we implore you!
