The final week of July marked the end of box lacrosse in the Loveland Summer Box Lacrosse League in Symmes Township. League Director, Michael Cotsonas said, “Over 220 youth through high school boys competed in the largest summer lacrosse league in Southern Ohio, playing box lacrosse in the only dedicated outdoor box lacrosse arena in the Midwest."
Championship games were held across all divisions, 3rd grade through high school, with the highlight high school Boys Championship game, featuring D-I, D-II and D-III-bound 10th, 11th and 12th graders.
Cotsonas said that a crowd of more than sixty spectators came to watch High School Boys Team 2 and Team 4, and the back and forth action where neither team scored more than two goals in a row, and never lead by more than 2. “It came as no surprise overtime was needed to decide the outcome.” It was an overtime that wasn't without controversy" said Cotsonas. Senior Christian Przezdziecki (Loveland HS) appeared to score the game winner at 2:05 into OT, but the official was unable to determine if the ball crossed the goal line. After the restart, Team 2 quickly pushed the ball up the field to Brad Clements (Loveland HS), who double pumped the ball into the top right corner for the title. Final 16-15.
Team 2, the 2012 Loveland Box Lacrosse Summer League HS Boys Champs, is coached by Doug Thomas.
