Pete McConney presented a $1,000 check on Saturday to the Capt. Seth Mitchell Memorial Scholarship Fund on behalf of the Miami Trails Seniors Golf Tournament. McConney said that the annual golf outing over the 19 years it's been held has raised over $275,000 that has been donated to various charities. The ocasion was the 3rd Annual Capt. Seth Memorial Hero Run.
The scholarship fund is used to honor graduating seniors at Loveland High School who are judged to exhibit the qulities of Capt. Mitchell, class president when he graduated from Loveland in 1997. He was the first LHS graduate to die while fighting in the Middle East wars when he was killed in action in Helmand Province, Afghanistan on Monday, October 26, 2009.
