The Loveland-Symmes Fire Department Board of Directors announced that Dr. Michael A. Policastro will assume the position of Chief Medical Officer for the Loveland-Symmes Fire Department. Policastro is a graduate of Xavier University, Wright State School of Medicine and performed his residency at Case Western University/ Cleveland Clinic. Chief Policastro is an emergency room physician for the Tri Health system that includes Bethesda North and Good Samaritan Hospitals.
Policastro speaks nationally on topics of toxicology and forensic toxicology as well as having been published in numerous medical journals. He will replace retiring physician Daniel Lankin who has served as Chief Medical Officer for the past thirty years.
Chief Otto Huber said, “Dan’s shoes will never be filled, Dr. Mike has what it takes to lead a modern day emergency medical service well into the future. His unique training will serve our training program and medical guidance well.” Huber said the department is sad to see Lankin leave, however it is a well deserved retirement. “I know that he has left the department and the para-medicine program in good hands”
