The Loveland Varsity Girls Volleyball team has completed two solid weeks of outstanding volleyball and has won 4 straight matches. Three of those wins came at the hands of ECC opponents, helping them get back in the hunt for the first ECC volleyball title.
The Lady Tigers traveled to Milford to face a strong Milford team on 9/6 and came away with a solid victory in 3 straight games (25-16, 26-16 , 25-20). They followed that up with another 3 game win against visiting Indian Hill on 9/10, (25-13, 25-11, 25-10) and the next day with a very impressive home performance against Glen Este on 9/11 (26-24, 25-18, 25-19). The Lady Tigers rounded out the week with a tough 4 game victory at Walnut Hills on 9/13 (25-15, 20-25, 25-19, 25-23 ).
Loveland’s current record is 6-3 overall and the Lady Tigers are tied for 1st in the ECC at 3-2, with Kings, Milford, and Turpin.
Their success has been a great team effort. Lindsey Flaherty (Sr) and Sarah Marlatt (So) are running the middle and being complimented by outside hitters Maddy Whitaker (Sr.), Sidney Thomas (Jr), Rachel Griswold (Jr) and Allison Kluge (Jr). Setters Lauren Blumberg (Sr.) and Erin Mautino (Sr.) are directing the offense with great defensive support from Libero Kayla Senters (Sr) and Defensive Specialists Christy Flaherty (Sr), Carly Beckstedt (Jr), Jesse Blumberg (So) and Paige DeWitt (So).
Next week is two key ECC match-ups at Loveland High School against Turpin on 9/18 and Anderson on 9/20. Start time is 7 pm.
In addition Loveland Volleyball would like to announce their 2012 Fundraiser. Loveland and Kings Volleyball programs have teamed up to support Becca Kniskern and her family as she continues her battle with Leukemia. It will be held on Saturday 10/13 during the final season match between Loveland and Kings at Loveland High School at noon. Please show up and support this wonderful cause.
