SMOY's Premier THEOLOGY on TAP Quenches Thirst with Straight talk and Honest Answers!
By Ruthy Trusler
Claddagh's Irish Pub Restaurant in Deerfield Towne Center was packed Thursday, September 6 as Tom Wray, Pastoral Associate - Evangelization at St. Margaret of York Catholic Church, Loveland, Ohio, welcomed guest speaker Bishop Joseph Binzer. In his speech: "Faithful Citizenship: Catholics in Political Life" Binzer pointed out that the Catholic Church does not and cannot tell its members how to vote in a Presidential election. It does encourage its members to apply their Catholic Christian values to legislation and public issues, especially those affecting human dignity and social justice. The capacity to do this is our "first and most cherished freedom," the freedom of religion. The Catholic Church is speaking out on the the importance of preserving this Constitutionally-protected right during this time.
Afterward, a stack of questions were presented him on index cards. Binzer provided straight talk with honest answers. It was very informative.
There are 3 more Theology on Tap (lecture and discussion series) lined up this season with each being held at Claddagh's Irish Pub Restaurant in Deerfield Town Center at 7:00 PM (September 13, 27 and October 4). Look for more in the winter/spring months ahead! Get full details by visiting www.stmargaretofyork.org.
