This LOVELAND MAGAZINE HS VIDEO is 2012 Loveland High School Homecoming Grand Marshals, Michael and Janet Rich, being flown in by helicopter at last Friday’s Homecoming game against Anderson. And, an interview with them just after they landed and delivered the game ball to the officials.
Both Michael and Janet served Loveland School District for many years as teachers and coaches. Janet served Loveland Junior High and High School for a total of 34 years, including 33 years as Chairperson of the Physical Education and Health departments, while Michael served as the physical education teacher at the Middle School for 34 years.
Fans heard over the loudspeaker as they landed that:
“Janet and Michael shared their passion for coaching with countless Loveland students. Janet coached numerous teams in basketball, volleyball, track, and cheerleading. She was also the Advisor to many Student Council and Prom committees and today she continues to serve Loveland as the coach of our 8th grade football cheerleaders.”
“Michael spent many years coaching football, track, softball, basketball, volleyball and wrestling. His many accolades include 29 years as a High School varsity assistant coach and Middle School head coach for our football teams, as well being inducted into the Southwest Ohio Wrestling Coaches’ Association Hall of Fame in 2007.”
Michael and Janet have been married for 33 years. Their three children, Heather Rich, Pat Hamill and Matt Hamill were all coached by their parents.
Fittingly, Michael and Janet retired together this past May, yet can often be found cheering on the Tigers at many sporting events.
