Donations totaling more than $3,200 are piled in a staging area at Little Miami High School as Honor Society students assembly care packages for local families.
These everyday items are things that many people take for granted. But there are some who live in the Little Miami school district for whom these items are sometimes out of reach.
With that in mind, members of the Little Miami High School National Honor Society and Student Government sponsored their annual toy drive from Dec. 3-14. All across the Little Miami district, classrooms and entire buildings contributed donated items and monetary gifts to lend a helping hand.
Classes in grades K-6 collected new toys, clothes, hygiene items and gift cards. High school students could donate $5 to the cause, and earn a one-period early release on the Friday before Christmas break.
When all of the donations were counted up, they amounted to more than $3,200. Working with LM Resource Coordinator Patricia Stevenson, NHS students worked to assemble care packages for 30 local families in need, all of which have at least one student in grades K-6 at Little Miami.
The packages are scheduled to be delivered the weekend prior to Christmas
