Dear Loveland Magazine Readers,
Hello, I would like to introduce myself: I am Angela Laman, a Licensed Social Worker, Adoption Assessor and the Program Director of Adoption STAR in Ohio. I have been employed with Adoption STAR for the past three years.
Prior
to this, I served as Executive Director for Worlds Together adoption
agency where I worked primarily with families who were interested in
pursuing international adoptions. I became acquainted with Adoption STAR
during my work with Worlds Together. I decided to join efforts with
Adoption STAR and close Worlds Together to expand my interest in
domestic adoptions as well as international placements.
In 2009, I began writing the policies for bringing Adoption STAR to Ohio. It took a good long year before Adoption STAR was approved as an official private child placing agency in January 2010.
Once the state of Ohio approved Adoption STAR as a private child placing agency in 2010, I closed Worlds Together and began working solely for Adoption STAR. This work was conducted out of my home office until August 2012. I worked mainly out of Panera and Starbucks when facilitating meetings with prospective adoptive parents as well as facilitating a placement!
A larger office space was needed with the growth occurring with Adoption STAR.
With this move to an official office space for Adoption STAR in Ohio, I am excited to announce our first Open House on March 5th from 4 to 6 p.m. at 433 West Loveland Avenue, Loveland, OH 45140. My favorite part about the new office space is having a place to meet with clients as well as hold informational sessions. I also love being able to share the office space with our newest part-time staff member, Tara Schamel. We hope you will find enjoy our wall of photos of the many families Ohio has been able to help create!
