To help you save money and energy, Duke Energy partners with JACO Environmental – one of the country's largest appliance recyclers – to offer FREE refrigerator and freezer recycling. It's quick and convenient – and you'll get $30 for participating.
And we'll pick up your refrigerator or freezer for free!
Secondary refrigerators and freezers can add up to $150 to your power bill each year. Recycling your unit will help you reduce your energy use and keep harmful materials out of landfills.
Here's how the Appliance Recycling program works:
- Schedule an appliance pickup online or by phone.
- We'll come to your house – at a date/time that's convenient for you – and pick up your appliance for free.
- Your refrigerator or freezer will then go to a local recycling center, where 95 percent of it will be recycled.
- We'll send you a check for $30.Or, you can donate the funds directly to the HeatShare assistance program.

Scheduling an appliance pickup is easy. Simply use our online form or call 855-398-6200. Our representatives are available by phone between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on weekdays, and between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturdays.
