by Bonnie McNett,
A six-week long program for parents to experience the outdoor environment at Children’s Meeting House Montessori School (CMH) will kick off on Friday, October 4th from 8:45am-10:00am. The school’s naturalist, Veronica Brannen, will guide parents as they explore the gardens, trails, and other natural features of the school’s 8-acre campus and the surrounding 350 acreage of neighboring Grailville Retreat Center. Parents will gain a basic understanding of the local ecosystem, plants and animals and learn how to facilitate nature exploration with their children, a new lens to view the great outdoors. This casual “walk and talk” series is free and being offered on a drop-in basis, with no need to pre-register. Parents may come for all 6 of the classes or those sessions that fit into their schedules. Young children are welcome to join parents.
According to Ms. Brannen, “Many of our parents have chosen CMH for not only the authentic Montessori educational program that it offers but for the fabulous outdoor footprint that sets the school apart from other private pre-kindergarten through 6th grade schools in our area.” She continues, “By offering the Parents Outdoors Nature series, parents can experience first-hand what students see, hear, smell, and discover on a daily basis at the school. Spending time outdoors is incredibly beneficial for people of all ages and has the potential to bring parents, children, and nature closer together.“
These classes run Fridays from October 4th through November 15th (skipping Friday, November 1st) and are open to all parents in the greater Cincinnati area. The school is located at 927 O'Bannonville Road in Loveland, Ohio and can be contacted at 513-683-4757 for more information.
