Tipton was a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society, co-captained the Elon Women’s Rugby Team, and she won the Golden Oak Award as the Elon Environmental Studies Department Senior of the Year. She will work in water management for the City of Durham, N.C., with plans to pursue a Master of Public Health at the Gillings School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
Tipton is a 2009 graduate of Cincinnati Country Day School, a native of Loveland, Ohio, and a resident of Maineville, Ohio. Her parents are Bill & Laurel Tipton of Maineville, Ohio.
A total of 1,173 undergraduates received degrees at the university’s 123rd Commencement exercises. The ceremony featured keynote speaker Brian Williams, anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News and the parent of a graduating senior. Williams chairs the university’s School of Communications Advisory Board and in 2011 moderated a special Convocation ceremony.
