Game changed to Thursday at 7:05
This upcoming Thursday (not Friday, but THURSDAY,) Loveland Football will travel to Glen Este to take on the Trojans under the cameras of Fox Sports Ohio. At current record at 3-0, the undefeated Tigers are heavy favorites over the 1-2 Trojans. In those games the Tigers have outscored opponents 119-20, and with a strong defense, and the dual offensive running threat of Nate Slagel and Luke Waddell, the Tigers are looking to break through Glen Este. “No doubt we are going to win and show everyone what we can do,” said senior linebacker Zach Russ.
The Trojans have a solid running back in Jordan Harris who has averaged 146 yards per game, and Tyler Burdick, a talented tight end and linebacker. However, with no superstars, a mid-level defense, and a lackluster passing game, the Tigers should have no trouble making a television blow out. That’s the situation on paper at least.
However, the Glen Este Trojans are playing with a home field advantage on an uncommon night for high school football. It's their military game, and under the added pressure of Fox Sports Ohio's cameras, the possibility of a surprise is there.
The timing and availability of the game may make staying home for the game appealing, though Loveland Athletic Director Juliann Renner commented “There should not be a lack of fans at all… When you have an undefeated team, (the fans) need to be supportive and travel so we can stay undefeated.”
Originally, the game was set for Friday night, but the move to Thursday was made by a higher power. “It was totally the decision of Fox Sports Ohio. We are totally under the jurisdiction of broadcasting. It’s called television. We did get permission from the OHSAA (Ohio High School Athletic Association) though,” said Renner.
Kickoff for the Loveland and Glen Este showdown is 7:05.
