Slagel left the game after the first minute of the second quarter, after already scoring on runs of 55 and 41 yards and 121 total running yards. He was to undergo an MRI on his right knee over the weekend.
Slagel was 20 yards away from setting Loveland's single season rushing record of 1,358 set by Jack McCoy in 1966. In perhaps what will prove the most important play of the Tiger's undeafted season, Slagel wasn't yet in the locker room when freshman, Luke Waddell answered with a 96 yard touchdown run. Waddell also caught two passes of 16 and 25 yards, a 151 total for the evening.
Loveland went on to score 42 points without their star running back.
Loveland (8-0) travels to Turpin (2-2, 4-4) this Friday who are coming off a 23-2 win over Milford. Turpin is # 13 in Region 6 rankings and a win over the Tigers would up their chances they make it into post season play. The top eight teams will play in the state tournament.
