Loveland, Oh. - The Parish of St. George Russian Orthodox Church invites its new neighbors to their “Russian Christmas Concert” this Friday, December 13 at 7 PM. The concert will feature hymns from the Orthodox Nativity services as well as traditional carols performed by a quartet of parish choristers. The concert will be sung in both English and Old Church Slavonic. There will also be a brief introduction to some Russian Orthodox Christmas traditions. The free concert will be held in the parish’s new home at 118 N. Lebanon Road, Loveland, OH 45140.
The Parish also opens its doors on Saturday, December 14 from 9:30 AM. to 1:30 PM for a community open house. This is an opportunity to walk through the newly constructed Church and parish hall. There will be tours on the hour in the Church conducted by the parish rector, Rev. Daniel Marshall. The parish gift shop will be open, offering a variety of ethnic gifts, as well as local honey, extra virgin olive oil from Crete and books about the Orthodox Church for both adults and children.
At both the concert and during the open house, a collection will be made in support of the Loveland Interfaith Effort (L.I.F.E.), the local charity which runs a food pantry and provides emergency assistance to those in need.
St. George Russian Orthodox Church (www.stgeorgeroc.org) celebrated its 25th anniversary this year by finishing its new home in Loveland. The parish had been located in Blue Ash since its founding. "Over the years, the community outgrew its original facility as it added new converts to Orthodoxy and more and more ethnic Slavs discovered the parish. After more than ten years of planning, fundraising and fervent prayer, the parish is delighted to have completed its new home. We hope you will come see what we are so pleased about," said Marshall.
