Loveland, Oh. - Just days before Loveland High School played Mt. Healthy in the football playoffs on November 22, former standout Mt. Healthy football and track star, Vincent Turnage was sot to death in the home of his family. Police report that the home was invaded by two individuals, and Vincent was shot as he was trying to escape. The 19-year-old was home from the University of Akron where he had been given a scholarship to run track, and as a Freshman had already contributed to the success of his team.
During the game against Mt. Healthy, which was played at Lockland High School, $600 was collected by Loveland fans and given to Tina Tuck, the Mt. Healthy athletic director to be used to help pay for funeral expenses for their recent graduate. Many of the student athletes who played against Loveland that night were personal friends with Vincent and played football with him the year before. He had attended their most recent game the Friday before he was killed. He competed against Loveland athletes in track meets and in football.
Vincent was laid to rest on November 30 in Spring Grove Cemetery.
