Below is the music video singer/songwriter, Olivia Frances premiered at the Hold On Talent Slam that was held in the gym of New Hope Baptist Church on March 1. The Cincinnati, high school senior was a contestant and won money last year, but couldn’t enter the slam and compete for price money at this year’s showcase of the performing
arts. However, she wanted to send along a message to the contestants and has allowed the song she wrote and sang at last year’s slam to become the theme song for the Hold On Talent Slam.
Olivia had a previous engagement, at a fund raiser for Ugandan relief efforts, so to be at both events, she made a “virtual” appearance at the Slam when her video message and music video was played at the end of the evening on a twenty-foot wide screen above the stage. With all of the contestants on stage after the winners were announced and cash given away, they followed Olivia’s lead and led the audience in singing, “Get to know you.” The chorus is, “I want to get to know you.” Olivia said, “Please sing along. I wish I could have been there tonight, to get to know you.”
She posted on her FaceBook page, “I will be in two places at once tonight! Well, in reality I'll be at Moeller High School performing during the Unified for Uganda event, WhatUgandaDo. However, my music video for "Get to Know You" will #debut at the Hold On Talent Slam in Loveland. Remember when I performed there last year? Well, this year since I can't make it, my video be the finale of the show!”
The following week, Olivia accepted an invitation from ReverbNation to perform at the Invasion of the GoGirls at the South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas. Her performance was on Friday, March 14 at Austin Java Restaurant & Coffee House.
Olivia has also just been accepted by Campus Nation’s Music Spotlight Across College Campuses and has been booked in several upcoming venues around Cincinnati. Visit her ReverbNation page to find out about her up coming appearances: March 26 at the Songwriter in-The Round, March 27 - Live Nation at Bogart’s, March 28 at the Underground, and April 19 at the 86 Club.
Back to Happiness
Olivia’s pure singing voice, can almost be overlooked by her storytelling, song writing, which reflect a maturity beyond her age. Much is about teenage love, but older adults will connect with the present and be taken back to days gone past. And, just listening to “Away from everything" on her country/pop album CD, it won’t be fully appreciated until you see her well crafted and choreographed music video on YouTube.
The salty taste of this place is blowing in my face as my brown hair sways touching the crashing waves.
I could wait for high tide to come in so I could swim away, away from everything.
The dream Olivia paints will mean many things to many people, however this video shot among the waves, place the lyrics exactly where they belong, at, in, and above, the ocean. First, watch the video with your eyes closed, then open them to see her full dream for you revealed.
Back to Happiness was recorded, mixed and mastered at Smash Recording studios in Nashville and Olivia is backed by a group of session musicians.
“Back to Happiness” will do just that for you, or reaffirm the good that where you’ve been isn’t where you’ll always have to be. Olivia wont let anyone get away with being cynical.
Olivia is ranked in the Top 10 on the ReverbNation Pop Charts of Cincinnati, and recently named “Artist to Watch” by Skope Magazine.
Olivia’s “Return to Happiness - ten songs at the Apple ITunes Store.
