Loveland area artist Monica Anne Achberger will display selections of her paintings in The Gallery at River Hills Church, 6300 Price Road, through May 4.
“Color is my heartfelt inspiration. I love mixing color, layering one luscious brushstroke alongside another, creating an intimate impression of my connection to the subject. When I paint, something quite special happens: the way the sunlight felt, the scent of the wind, the amazing play of color intertwining with shadows and light -- all contributing to the finished piece. I find great joy in revealing the beauty of a momentary glance of everyday life.”
Monica has an inspired, upbeat attitude about life. Everyday life changed for Monica in 1998 when she received a kidney from her husband, John. Organ transplant has a tremendous positive impact on our lives mentally and physically. John Achberger absolutely has no side effects from donating one of his kidneys to Monica. He leads a physically active, busy life. “There’s no reason not to give the gift of life to another person,” he says, “Organ and tissue donation is the gift that keeps on giving.”
Celebrated in April each year, National Donate Life Month features an entire month of local, regional and national activities to help encourage Americans to register as organ, eye and tissue donors and to celebrate those that have saved lives through the gift of donation.
Achberger has participated in numerous fine art shows and competitions. Most recently she received the Gold Medal-The Joan Cord Award of Excellence from the Women’s Art Club of Cincinnati; the Best of Show at the Greater Loveland Historical Society Museum, Images of the Past Visions of Today; and the Purchase Award from the McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Ohio.
The Gallery is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sundays 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., closed on Mondays. Call River Hills office, 513/677-7600, for extended hours.
