The “All About Art” Summer Art Camp is celebrating its 10th Year serving Loveland area school children. The camp, which is sponsored by the Loveland Elementary PTA has been holding art camps every summer since 2005 for children in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Three certified art educators have taught this camp over the last 10 years…Kim Richardson, Jennifer Drydyk, and Aly Mardin.
One year, students created full-body plaster cast sculptures. Traditional art methods such as drawing and painting were reinforced within each theme.
Students receive a camp tee-shirt with a logo to match the current theme. Families are invited to come on Friday to see the artwork created throughout the week. Teacher, Kim Richardson said, “Students beam with pride as parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and siblings come to admire their work.”
Camp is held for two weeks every June at either Loveland High School or Loveland Intermediate School. Each session runs for one week offering a morning or afternoon session.
The cost is $95 per child. There is a $5 discount for each additional family member. The art camp helps raise money for the Loveland Elementary PTA by giving part of the proceeds back to the PTA to fund scholarships and field trips during the school year.
This year’s theme is Trekking Through Time which takes students on different adventures throughout history. Younger campers might use a time machine to travel back to the Wild West for a gold dig or the Stone Age where they might find a cave to create cave paintings in. They might even encounter dinosaurs if they make it to the prehistoric Jurassic time period. Older art campers will travel throughout time experiencing different art movements and art history along the way.
Camp is open to students in grades K-8 and will be held during the weeks of June 16 and June 23.

Although the camp is sponsored by the Loveland Elementary PTA, the camp is available for all children regardless of the child’s school district. However, Loveland City School children have priority registration.
