Alice Yoshida, a Little Miami sixth grader recently won a regional poster contest celebrating U.S history and Americanism. Yoshida was recognized this week at a dinner hosted by the Cincinnati Chapter of the Ohio Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Yoshida's poster about Francis Marion, a Revolutionary War soldier, won her the top prize in the chapter's Americanism Poster Contest. Yoshida included several written pages about Marion's life, and an original artwork of Marion on a horse.
John H. Bredenfoerder, secretary of the Cincinnati chapter, presented the good news to Alice. She was honored at the chapter's annual dinner on April 2, and won a $50 cash award. Her poster will now be entered in the state competition and will possibly move on to national as well. Alice is a student in Erin Dipzinski's class at the Intermediate School.
