Rural Domestic Preparedness Consortium is bringing a FREE Department of Homeland Security-Certified Course - Crisis Management for School-Based Incidents for Key Decision Makers to Liberty Township, Ohio
Rural schools, law enforcement, other emergency responders, and community stakeholders are often limited in their access to resources, so it is imperative that all potentially affected parties collaborate in planning, preparation, communication, response, and recovery in the event of a school-based incident. Moreover, these affected parties must come together to practice their interoperable skills through drills and exercises to ensure the strategies in place provide for an effective crisis response and collaborative recovery. The Rural Domestic Preparedness Consortium (RDPC) is providing those responsible for school security in Liberty Township, Ohio with crisis management training on how to effectively respond to an emergency involving a school building or an entire school system.
RDPC will be delivering a free Department of Homeland Security (DHS)-certified course, MGT 417 - Crisis Management for School-Based Incidents for Key Decision Makers from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on August 14 and 15, 2014 at Butler Tech/Forum Room, 5140 Princeton-Glendale Rd., Liberty Township OH 45011. With the intent of building upon the foundation of the AWR 148 course and utilizing an all-hazards approach, this two-day course will provide content instruction, develop concept-specific skills, and provide opportunities for law enforcement, school personnel, and community stakeholders to collaboratively apply the course objectives in scenario-based applications.
The sixteen-hour, instructor-led course was developed by the Ohio-based University of Findlay, an academic partner for RDPC, specifically for school administrators and emergency responders. This course provides an opportunity for rural law enforcement and school personnel to develop a partnership with regard to school safety through effective collaborative planning, preparedness, communication, and coordination of resources.
