The Young Artist’s Preparatory Program is Cincinnati’s premier opera apprentice program taught through the Musical Arts Center. YAPP is composed of a group of extremely talented high-school singers who have been working hard for nine months to prepare the annual showcase performance. The 25 participants come from all over the Tri-State area, representing 15 local communities and 14 different high schools.

“For Loveland to have five of these is quite the showing,” said Christine Hansford. Jake Dufresne, Sydney Mahon, Sarah Koopman, Katherine Abel, and Brianna Stottmann from the Loveland area have been selected for the program.

Participants audition in September by preparing two full length classical pieces and a one minute monologue. Students were chosen based on their intellectual, interpretive and performing abilities, musical skills, maturity and integrity.

This year’s showcase will feature scenes from: Beethoven’s Fidelio, Verdi’s La Traviata, Bernstein’s Candide, Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance, The Marriage of Figaro and Cosi fan Tutte by Mozart and many others.
