Dear Loveland Magazine Readers,

cache_4094642382I have been on a year long journey to shed the weight of my grief. I carried this weight with me for such a long time that I thought I could never be my old self again, ever. Since the end of October of 2014, I started riding a bike since I could no longer walk due to a foot injury. It began slowly, very slowly. Being that I could not walk up the stairs without pulling myself up on the railing just a year ago, you can imagine just how slowly I began.

After nine months of training, on July 26th, in just two short weeks, I will be riding my first Century (100 miles)! ~ I can’t believe it either!  I will be doing this for me and to support our wonderful organization, Companions on a Journey, which has helped me to shed my grief…AND NOW, I am asking for some help. I will be riding on the Loveland Bike Trail from Old Loveland to Yellow Springs, and back (a grand total of 104 miles). I am asking for sponsors for each mile at $25 a mile. Which mile would you like to sponsor?

Simply go to www.companionsonajourney.org make a tax-deductible donation of $25 for each mile you would like to sponsor. PLEASE write “Ride COJ” in the “special instructions” so that we know your donation is for this ride. So far miles 1-5 are taken ☺ … that leaves 99 miles for you to show COJ the love.  “LIKE” the COJ Facebook page so that you can follow the progression and the growing support and see pictures of my ride. I will also post on the COJ website.

From the bottom of my heart and the seat of my bike, I thank you for showing COJ how grateful you are for all the work done in our community with a small token of support.

Maybe we can start something really-really big together!!! Only God knows where this will go!

With sincere appreciation of your support and your encouragement as I “Ride 100 for COJ!”,

Linda E Bauer

COJ Board Director /Secretary

  1. It feels strange to be solicitated without knowing more about the event, the organization, and what the money will be used for.
