Clermont County, Ohio – Restrictions will be an effect on the state Route 28 bypass in Milford later this month as part of a bridge deck replacement project on Happy Hollow Road over the bypass.

Beginning Monday, July 27, and continuing throughout the week, Bypass S.R. 28 will be subject to overnight closures in either direction on alternating days for contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation to remove the parapet walls and bridge beams of the Happy Hollow bridge.

Eastbound Bypass S.R. 28 will be closed Monday and Wednesday, July 27 and 29, each night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day. Then on Tuesday and Thursday, July 28 and 30, the route will be closed in the westbound direction beginning at 10 p.m. each night and continuing until 5 a.m. the following day. During periods of closure, traffic will be detoured by way of Business S.R. 28.

Traffic on Happy Hollow Road will be maintained in one lane with temporary signals at the overpass bridge. However, the road will be subject to short-term, intermittent periods of closure of up to 15 minutes during the overnight hours during the week of July 27.

The bridge rehabilitation project includes demolition of the existing deck, retaining wall parapet reconstruction, sidewalk extension, vandal protection fence, and vertical curve correction.

A contract was awarded to Sunesis Construction Company for approximately $1.9 million to rehab the Happy Hollow Road bridge, and completion is scheduled for late spring of 2021.
