Columbus, Ohio – Today Governor John R. Kasich ordered that all flags be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout the state in honor of the victims of the tragedy in Annapolis, Maryland, effective immediately until sunset, July 3, 2018.

A mass shooting occurred on June 28, 2018, at the offices of newspaper publisher Capital GazetteCommunications in Annapolis. The perpetrator killed five Capital Gazette employees and gravely wounded several in the attack on the newsroom. (Learn more at Wikipedia)

Kasich’s order reads:

“In accordance with the orders issued today by the President of the United States of America to honor the victims of the attack perpetrated on June 28, 2018 in Annapolis, Maryland, I hereby proclaim, by the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Ohio by the Ohio Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, that the flags of the United States of America and the State of Ohio shall be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout the state of Ohio, effective immediately until sunset, July 3, 2018.”
