Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland Elementary School (LES) Gymnasium was balloon-decorated with healthy snacks of fruit positioned on the welcome table for the Third Annual FIT is FUN Celebration – a true party hosted by LES third grade students. It was a packed house, as all who attended got busy getting fit.

“What a way to lead by example,” said LES Third-Grade Teacher Kirby Jonas. “This was a true community event – with our guests getting right out on the gym floor with our students leading exercises. Health and wellness covers a wide range of topics. It is my goal to empower students to learn ways to be proactive early on in their educational experiences.”

While the FIT is FUN Celebration is… well… fun – the lessons that are focused on good health are in-depth and year-long. Enter The Wellness Classroom – a website designed to help students gain easy access to guides that will help them make healthy choices, and even participate in sharing content.

“The Wellness Classroom is a safe place where we continue to update and engage students throughout the year,” said Jonas. “It is really about taking care of our mind, body and souls – and it is truly inspiring to see the articles the students write for the site. They are involved in asking the questions, doing the research and then sharing what they have learned about health. They get it – they really do, and you can see that clearly.”
