Loveland High School seniors wrote inspirational quotes to place with outfits that will be donated through Cincinnati’s Dress for Success organization. The nonprofit agency was one of 15 organizations that participated in the fifth annual LHS Senior Service Day.

“It was the best year yet.”

Loveland, Ohio – “It was the best year yet.” She smiled, eyes bright – beaming with Tiger Pride – when she said it. As Loveland High School (LHS) Teacher and Senior Service Day Director Bre Sambuchino closed the books on the fifth annual LHS Senior Service Day – she knew all her students had earned an A-plus.[quote_left]Around 400 volunteers, 15 service sites, 1000 hours donated – Loveland’s 5th Annual Senior Service Day. [/quote_left]“The reports were all positive coming in from our adult volunteers and the nonprofit agencies we served across Loveland and Cincinnati,” said Sambuchino. “I’m just so proud of these students.”

All 372 of them – every member of the senior class volunteering at 15 different nonprofit agencies across the area Wednesday, Oct. 19. The class donated 1,000 hours to helping others, learning life lessons that will last well beyond the experience. Let’s make a difference, one moment at a time, was the senior-leader chosen theme for this year’s event, and Sambuchino took that idea to the next level for the students.

“This year I really wanted to challenge the students to be present in what they were doing, and at the completion of the day, each student reflected on the job they did and the team they worked with and the agency they served to ‘find their moment’ – their moment that really meant something to them, and then they wrote about that experience,” said Sambuchino.

Loveland High School thanks the following agencies for participating in the event: Cincinnati Parks Ault Park, Dress for Success, Grailville, Granny’s Garden, Greenacres Foundation, Loveland Health Care Center, Little Miami River Cleanup, Matthew:25 Ministries, NEST Loveland Community Learning Center, New Life Furniture, QPR Training, SPCA, St. Francis Seraph School, Shepherd’s Place and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
