Loveland, Ohio – For one day the Loveland High School (LHS) senior class joined together to give back to the community. Wednesday, Oct. 14, students participated in the fourth annual Senior Service Day. The senior class volunteered their services at 11 Loveland and Cincinnati-area nonprofit agencies.

“This year the focus was on preparing students to be involved in service for the rest of lives – college, if they select to go to college, and even beyond in corporate,” said LHS Teacher and Senior Service Day Director Bre Sambuchino. “So that way we are setting students up to be successful with service in the future no matter where they go after the Senior Service Day experience.”

Students formed groups to visit assigned nonprofits which included Cincinnati Parks, Grailville, Granny’s Garden, Greenacres, Loveland Care Center, Matthew 25 Ministries, New Life Furniture, QPR Training, SPCA – Cincinnati, Saint Francis Seraph School and Saint Vincent de Paul Society.

“It’s a great way for us to give back to the community,” said Senior Kelsey Beckstedt, while working to package plates donated to New Life Furniture, a nonprofit agency that helps people transition out of homelessness. “I think it’s a really nice way to show that there are simple ways that you can help a bunch of people that you don’t even know.”

Students highlighted their service work in real time using the Twitter #TigerVision – allowing the community to be a part of the learning experience.
