Loveland Science Olympiad placed fourth overall at the Southwest Regional Tournament at Xavier University on March 9, 2019.

Loveland, Ohio – With a formidable performance at the Science Olympiad Southwest Regional Tournament, the Loveland High School (LHS) team placed fourth overall and qualified for the Ohio State Tournament in April. Team members competing at the regional tournament were Hannah Ackley, Melissa Bak, Megan Dakoske, Justin Dierling, Emily Hamm, Laura Hayes, Jacob Kiley, Alex Laman, Cara Noel, Monty Noel, Nick Rasmussen, Joanna Reese, and Samantha Skarda.

“I’m so glad I’ve had the opportunity to be a member of the Science Olympiad team for the past two years,” commented Senior Megan Dakoske. “I’ve had so much fun with all my friends, and I’m really proud of the hard work our team has put in to place fourth in the region. I can’t wait to see what we accomplish at the state level competition!”

Fifteen area high schools and a total of 20 teams participated in the high school division at the regional tournament – six of the teams qualified for the next level of competition. The Ohio Science Olympiad State Tournament will gather 80 teams from across the state in Columbus on April 27 to compete for a chance to enter the national tournament.

Science Olympiad is praised as a model program that provides recognition for outstanding performances in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
