When Sgt. Chris Wall and Ofc. Josh Clift arrived at the home, they requested assistance from the Warren County Tactical Response Unit (SWAT). Hamilton Township Police Chief Scott Hughes says a preliminary investigation indicates that while his officers were securing the perimeter, and awaiting the arrival of the SWAT Team, the individual emerged from the residence pointing a firearm at the direction of his officers.

Hughes said that the man’s action caused his officers to “defend themselves and use lethal force.”

Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is in charge of the investigation, along with Warren County Prosecutor David Fornshell.

According to Hughs, both officers have been placed on standard administrative leave.
