Miami Township, Ohio – Here is a list of recreation activities that Miami Township is currently providing and a statement from Recreation Director Krystin Thibodeau that was sent to residents in their Summer e-newsletter “Inside Miami Township“. Inside the newsletter, you can find all of the recreation activities in a calendar format.

Krystin Thibodeau

Summer is finally here but for us in the Recreation Dept. it’s nothing like how our summers normally operate. The last couple months have been a rollercoaster ride regarding staying up to date with Governor Dewine’s orders in response to Covid-19. We had to cancel all our facility and park pavilion reservations as well as all programs.

The good news is as I am writing this, we are opening our rentals including park pavilions, the Leming House and Civic Center rooms. Non- contact sports returning has been a very positive thing as well for our residents who love baseball.

Our normal summer is filled with over 60 different camp offerings and 1,000 campers. This summer is looking a lot different as we have modified our camps and instituted some big changes with smaller group sizes based on CDC recommendations for day camps. We also have implemented “healthy protocol” measures throughout the camp day. We did some rigorous training with our camp staff prior to camps starting up. Our goal was to still be able to provide our children with a camp experience that will enrich their summer and provide some needed social interaction with other children and adults in a safe way.

I am sorry to report that we canceled our June and July Concert in the Park events. We still have two dates in August that are smaller concerts and will update their status depending on current guidelines at the time.

We are optimistically looking forward to fall with the hope that our ongoing programs and events may return. To stay updated check our website as it’s continually updated.

Enjoy this beautiful time of the year and don’t forget to visit one of our beautiful parks as they have a lot to offer our residents. #MiamiTwpProud
